Somewhere Systems

Sound, light, and magic.

Somewhere Systems is a non-linear and amorphous idea-based collective created by Justin Bennington to do a lot of different & creative things… which no longer fit into one specific industry.

Updates 0.02 & 0.1.2a

Added

  • Labels for volume and panning which enable when the users’ hand or controller is in close proximity to the SoundObject.

  • A currently-disabled audio visualization script on the SoundObjectPrefab, which changes the color of the cube based on spectrum analysis. This feature desperately needs smoothing, which is why it’s currently disabled.

  • Update 0.1.2a changed the versioning nomenclature and added a nice README.md file to the root directory.

Changed

Volume

  • Volume controls now span over the entire dynamic range.

  • A decibel conversion script provides a readout of the adjustment being applied to the audio source.

  • Volume information is now passed to a disabled audio visualizer script, which will be used later to create a VU-meter sort of interface.

  • The yield/return part of the IEnumerator now returns on next update instead of creating a WaitForSeconds(). This has some performance benefits.

Panning

  • The yield/return part of the IEnumerator now returns on next update instead of creating a WaitForSeconds(). This has some performance benefits.

SoundObjects

  • SoundObjects are now spherical and easier to grab.

  • The touch activation radius has been made about 20% larger to allow for easier grasping.

  • The hover activation radius has been decreased by 15%.
